Benchmade
Beautiful copper niobium inlays are the cardinal feature of the Benchmade Gold Class 707-161 Sequel folder. Although copper and niobium are not rare materials in themselves, it is the source of the material that contributes to its rarity and allure. The material used in the inlays are taken from huge copper cables interspersed with NbTi (Niobium Titanium) filaments that were used in massive particle accelerators, like the Tevatron accelerator, an advanced scientific measurement machine used to smash protons together at high rates of speed.
CPM-S90V Steel
Premium American made powdered steel with a uniform micro-structure that provides substantial improvements over other American made steel in wear and corrosion resistance; an excellent high-end steel.
Titanium
Considered an exotic metal alloy with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio that offers exceptional performance in a knife. Titanium is corrosion resistant to natural elements as well as many industrial chemicals.
Designers
Bill McHenry and Jason Williams. It runs in the family... Bill and stepson Jason spend their days making exquisite pieces of "art with an edge on it." Their dedication and talents complement one another very well, and have led to several noteworthy innovations in the knife making world. Benchmade was fortunate to be involved with one such innovation, the AXIS mechanism. The rest is history in the making.
