DESCRIPTION & CONDITION:
I have had this custom Ray Laconico slipjoint knife in my collection for several years now.  It has been carefully stored safely in a humidity-controlled, non-smoking environment since purchase.  Given the very early Laconico maker's mark, I believe this knife dates to about 2008, or so.  Ray made quite a few "linerless" slipjoints, but very few "liner" slipjoints such as this.  I've handled/owned hundreds of custom slipjoints, and this is the absolute LAST ONE I have to sell.  I've hung on to this one specifically.  It's that good.
This Laconico slipjoint is all-original and has not been modified in any way.  I have never carried or used this knife since I purchased it and it was sold to me as unused, however it may have been used sparingly prior to my ownership.  This custom knife features O1 tool steel, brass liners, 316L stainless steel spring/backspacer, polished black G10 scales, brass hardware, including a generous lanyard tube.  The transitions between the scales, brass liners and stainless backspacer is absolutely perfect.  I do not know if this knife has the maker's original edge but I have not sharpened it while in my custody.  The knife is very sharp and does not appear to be re-sharpened.  There is a little patina on the maker's mark-side of the blade as you can see in my pictures.  I have not tried to remove this patina in any way.  There may also be a few miniscule handling and storage marks, but VERY minor and not easily scene unless using using magnification.
This knife comes with a custom black leather pocket sheath (unknown maker... could be Ray's work but I can't confirm that), and the clip has superb retention.  The sheath is not molded to the knife, but it fits the knife well and I believe it's more of a knife "slip" than a sheath.  It could be wet-formed.  This custom-made Ray Laconico slipjoint has an overall length of 8.5", a blade length of 3.5", cutting edge of 3.0", and a handle length of 5.0".  The blade stock is 0.115" thick, and is flat ground in a wonderful Nessmuk-style blade shape (skinner/leaf shape that Ray is well known for).  This is a large slipjoint that has a half-stop and is flush in all three positions.  It has excellent walk and talk and the blade sits centered between the brass liners when closed.  This slipjoint is smooth, easy to manipulate with the nail-nick or by just grabbing the blade.  As far as slipjoints go, this is a custom-made tank with great ergos.  Just amazing!
